About

The Central MetroWest Substance Awareness & Prevention Collaborative (CMSAPC) is dedicated to preventing substance use and fostering healthier, more resilient communities across Central MetroWest. By empowering individuals, families, and organizations with knowledge and resources, we work to reduce youth substance use and create environments where everyone can thrive.

Who We Are

CMSAPC is a regional, grant-funded coalition made up of schools, parents, youth-serving organizations, faith-based services, local governments, and substance use prevention groups. We serve the Central MetroWest communities of Ashland, Hudson, Marlborough, Natick, Northborough, Southborough, and Westborough.

These towns work together under the shared belief that prevention is a community effort, with every member playing an important role in moving us closer to our shared goals. Our strength lies in collaboration, uniting dedicated individuals and organizations who share a passion for enhancing the well-being of their neighbors and families.

Our Mission

L
K
At CMSAPC, our mission is clear: to prevent underage drinking and substance use while promoting holistic health in the communities we serve. Through proactive education, collaboration, and evidence-based strategies, we aim to equip youth and families with the tools to make informed decisions and build stronger, safer neighborhoods.

Our Collaborative Approach

CMSAPC follows the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a proven method for addressing substance use in our communities. The SPF helps us tackle challenges head-on with a focus on long-term sustainability and cultural competence. Here’s how the SPF works:

Step 01

Assessment

We collect data to understand substance use trends in our region.

Step 02

Capacity Building

We empower our communities by enhancing their skills, knowledge, and resources.

Step 03

Planning

Strategies are developed based on science, data, and community needs.

Step 04

Implementation

We turn plans into action through educational programs, campaigns, and other initiatives.

Step 05

Evaluation

Results are measured, and improvements are made to keep our efforts impactful and efficient.

Our Strategic Focus

CMSAPC is guided by a carefully crafted strategic plan, designed to address youth’s “substances of first use” such as alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana. Mental health is also a key focus, as we recognize the close ties between emotional well-being and substance use prevention.

Some of our key initiatives include:
